The short version
- No picture of you is ever sent to our AI coach. It only receives silhouettes in which every person is a solid shape.
- You choose how long we keep your video: 24 hours, 7 days, 30 days, or until you delete it.
- While your video and coaching results are stored, they are encrypted with a key only you hold, so we can’t open them.
- We don’t sell your data, show you ads, or use tracking cookies or analytics.
- Rosalind is for riders aged 13 and over. Riders under 18 need a parent’s or guardian’s permission.
Who we are
Rosalind is run by Hashem Mazen Wahed, based in Maryland, USA (“Rosalind”, “we”, “us”). We are responsible for the personal data described here. You can reach us at hello@rosalind.cc about anything in this policy.
Rosalind is currently in private testing. This policy describes how the service works for testers and for everyone once it opens. If something changes, we’ll update this page before the change happens.
What we collect
If you join the waitlist
Your email address and the date you joined. We use it only to tell you when there’s a place for you, and we don’t share it with anyone. We don’t record your IP address with it.
If you create an account
- Your email address, to sign you in and to send you messages about your account and your videos.
- Your date of birth, to check that you are 13 or older and whether you need a parent’s permission.
- A parent’s or guardian’s email address if you are under 18, and the date they gave permission.
- Proof of your password, never the password itself. Your browser turns your password into a key and a sign-in proof. We store only a fingerprint of that proof, and your encryption key locked by your password, which we can’t open.
- Your passkey’s public key, if you add a passkey. Your fingerprint or face never leaves your phone; your phone checks it and only tells us that it was you.
- Your settings, such as how long we keep your videos and which view of your horse you prefer.
When you upload a video
- The video itself. It shows you, your horse, and anyone else who happens to be in the picture.
- What we make from it: the positions of your joints in each frame, outlines of the people and horses in it, the silhouette frames our AI coach sees, the coach’s written findings, and your coaching video.
When you visit the website
Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, handles the connection between your browser and our site. Like any web host, it sees your IP address and basic technical details to deliver the pages and protect them from attacks. We don’t use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies. If you have an account, we use one essential cookie to keep you signed in. While you are signed in, your browser also keeps your unlocked encryption key in its own storage on your device, so you don’t have to unlock it on every page; signing out removes it. Please don’t stay signed in on a computer other people use. Our fonts and images are served from our own site, not from third parties.
How the coaching works, and what our AI coach sees
Your video is analysed by our own software running on computers we rent for this purpose (from Modal and Cloudflare, described below). That software finds your joints, finds every person and horse in each frame, and then makes silhouette frames: every person, including you, is replaced with a solid shape. Your horse appears either as filmed or as a traced shape, whichever you choose.
Our AI coach is Claude, made by Anthropic. Anthropic receives only these silhouette frames and the joint positions as numbers. It never receives a picture of you or of any other person. Under Anthropic’s commercial terms it may not use them to train its models. Anthropic normally deletes them within 30 days, but it may keep material flagged by its safety systems for up to two years, and data it is legally required to keep.
Your coaching video is drawn on your own original footage, so you see yourself in it. That happens on our rented computers too, and the result is stored encrypted for you (see below).
Encryption: only you can open your videos
When you create an account, you get your own encryption key. It is protected by your password and by a recovery code that only you have. If you like, you can also unlock it with a passkey (the fingerprint, face or PIN you use to unlock your phone).
- While stored, your video, everything made from it, and your coaching video are encrypted with your key. Without it, they are unreadable, to us, to our providers, and to anyone who broke into our storage.
- While being processed, for the few minutes it takes to make your coaching video, our computers have to work with your actual video. This happens automatically; no person watches it. When processing ends, the unencrypted copy is deleted from the processing computer.
- If you forget your password and lose your recovery code, nobody can recover your stored videos, including us. That is the price of a promise we can keep. Anything you already downloaded is yours to keep, and we can delete the old account so you can start again. Keep your recovery code somewhere safe.
Who processes your data
We use a small number of providers, each only for its job and only on our instructions. We don’t sell or rent your data to anyone.

These providers are companies based in the United States. Our account database and file storage are kept in North America, and our processing computers run in the United States. Cloudflare’s network is worldwide, so the connection between your browser and our site may pass through the Cloudflare data centre nearest to you. We may also disclose data if the law requires it, and only as much as it requires.
How long we keep it
- Your videos and coaching results: as long as you choose: 24 hours, 7 days, 30 days, or until you delete them. The default is 7 days. You can delete any video at any time, or change how long we keep it, and we remind you by email before an automatic deletion (a day before, or 12 hours before for the 24-hour choice). Deleted files can’t be restored.
- Your account: until you delete it. Deleting your account deletes all of your videos and results with it. If you start creating an account but never finish setting it up, we delete it after 3 days, and an upload that is never completed is deleted after 2 hours.
- Backups: our account database keeps an automatic history for 30 days, so we can recover from mistakes. After you delete something, it disappears from that history within 30 days. Your videos and results are not in it; they are deleted at once.
- The waitlist: until you ask us to remove you, or until we invite you and you either join or decline. When you create an account, we remove you from the waitlist automatically.
- Email we receive: in our email inbox, as long as needed to answer it, then deleted.
Riders under 18
Rosalind is for riders aged 13 and over. If you are between 13 and 17, we ask a parent or guardian to confirm by email that you may use Rosalind before you can upload a video, and we keep a record of that confirmation. We don’t accept videos of riders under 13. If we learn that we have data from someone under 13, we delete it.
Other people in your video
Your video may show other riders, trainers or people at the barn. Our software finds every person in each frame so that it can hide them: our AI coach sees them as nothing but shapes, and only the rider being coached is measured and coached. Their outlines are kept, encrypted, only as part of your results. Your coaching video is drawn on your own footage, so anyone in your video also appears in it, just as in the original. Please only upload videos you have the right to share with us, and ask the people in them first where you can.
Your choices and rights
You can, at any time:
- download your coaching videos and results;
- change how long we keep your videos, or delete any of them;
- see, correct or export the personal data we hold about you;
- delete your account, which deletes everything in it;
- leave the waitlist.
Most of this you can do yourself in your account. For anything else, email hello@rosalind.cc. We reply within 30 days and don’t charge for it. Because your stored videos are encrypted with your key, we can delete them for you, but we can’t open or send them to you; you can always download them yourself.
If you live in a place with its own privacy laws, such as a US state with a consumer privacy law, the European Union or the United Kingdom, you have the rights those laws give you, including the right to complain to your data protection authority. We use your data to provide the service you asked for (and, for the waitlist and reminders, because you asked us to write to you). We don’t make decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects by automated means; the coaching is advice you are free to ignore.
Security
Everything travels over encrypted connections. Your files are encrypted with your own key while stored, our providers encrypt their systems too, and we give access to our systems only to the people who run Rosalind, using strong sign-in. The encryption happens in your browser, using code our website sends, so we protect that code as carefully as your data. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach ever affects your data, we will tell you promptly.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we update the date at the top. If a change affects how we handle your videos or your data, we email account holders before it takes effect.
